On December 9, 2011, to honor and reward our Math + Science Coalition Student Video Contest winners, the James Dobson upper school students were treated to a very special assembly. The students from Mrs. McConnell's 8th grade class put together a video that explained why Math and Science was important to them. They titled their video "Radial Math" and highlighted how we all use math and science for everyday tasks such as cooking, calculating tips, and telling time. Each of the six winning students won a $25 iTunes gift card and Mrs. McConnell won $250 for classroom materials. In addition to the gifts, the entire 8th grade class will take a field trip to Jill Scott's recording studio and they all received complementary tickets to a Drexel basketball game. Representatives from the Philadelphia Phillies, Science Cheerleaders, Apple, and Drexel Cheerleaders put on a show to honor the six students that won the competition. To top off the whole production, the Philly Phanatic made a special guest appearance! A number of students received Phillies bobble heads when they answered trivia correctly and every student walked away with a set of Phillies postcards.

The Phanatic is always clowning around!

It looks like the Phanatic brought out the playful side of Ms. Cruice.
The Drexel Cheerleaders and the Science Cheerleaders join our winners for a photo.
You can't help but smile when you are around the Phanatic!
