8th Grade Celebrations

Over the last two weeks, our 8th grade class has been participating in some exciting end of the year activities.  Last week, on May 30th, our 8th graders and many parent chaperones boarded the bus at 7:00am and began the trip to New York City.  We began our day at Sony Wonder Studios where students were able to experience how technology effects their daily lives and where technology is headed in the future.  After we finished our time at Sony, the students and their parents had some time to explore NYC before going to the Majestic Theater to see the longest running Broadway Show, The Phantom of the Opera.  Seeing this performance was the culmination of a year long study of the story, history and the music in this show.  The students really enjoyed this performance.  Sara said that her fondest memory of her time at Dobson this year was our trip to NYC.  "When we were done lunch, we went to see Phantom of the Opera.  Phantom of the Opera was amazing.  It was the best Broadway show I have ever seen, and I have been to a couple performances.  Kiara also said, "My fondest memory at Dobson was going on the 8th grade New York City trip.  It was really fun.  We got ot go to Sony Wonders and try out the different technology.  We also went to the Phantom of the Opera.  It was my first time seeing this play.  It was really amazing.  The Phantom of the Opera was exciting and suspenseful.  I will never forget going to New York City with my class!"

This week, the 8th grade class participated in the annual 8th Grade Luncheon.  Students got dressed up and went to Keenan's Valley View Inn, had lunch, danced and signed yearbooks.  This long standing tradition was enjoyed by all.

As our 8th graders prepare to be promoted to High School on Wednesday, June 13th, we hope that they take not only these memories with them, but also the many friendships that they have formed while at Dobson.  We wish them all the best and great success as they move on to the next chapter!
