Here are a few pics of Mrs. Meier's 5th graders working ever so hard
on their Benjamin Franklin projects! The students were fascinated to
learn all about Franklin and his marvelous inventions. They were also
surprised to learn how much he still impacts us even today!! The finished projects will soon be displayed on the 2nd floor!
We have so many wonderful things going on inside the walls of James Dobson School. This blog will be a link between administrators, teachers, and parents to pass along information about programs, make announcements, and showcase the accomplishments of our awesome Dobson students!

All students who donate will get to participate in a blue jean dress down day on that same day. Alex T. designed all of their informational posters that have been hung around the school! Way to go 104!! We know that your fundraiser will be a huge success!
Take Me Out To The Ball Game
This year, a select group of our students have been working with local
advertising executives, learning about many of the careers offered in this
field, as well as what goes into an major advertising campaign.
These
advertising executives have been visiting Dobson School once a month for one 45
minute period discuss what they do everyday at their respective companies, from
creating commercial scripts, advertisement layouts, slogans, timing and much
more. Students used this
information and worked with the team from Philly Ad Group to design a potential
poster and ticket for our production of High
School Musical Jr..
Today, these
students got to see how advertising works in the real world by visiting
Citizen's Bank Park. Students met with some of the Philllies Marketing
Team, had a tour of the stadium, locker room and ate lunch in Ashburn
Alley. Students got to see the many places where a company could
advertise, from the scoreboard to the rally towels, to even the schedule
magnets.

Screaming Students!
Students in rooms 104 and 106 created self-portraits inspired by the Edvard Munch painting "The Scream". Each student used the paint bucket and brush tools in Photoshop to paint the scenery in the background, and then they cut and pasted a photo of themselves that they took in Photobooth. To make their photograph look more like a painting, each student applied a watercolor filter to the photo layer. Exceptional work, rooms 104 and 106!
