On Friday, December 6, 2013, Dobson teachers and staff will rally in front of the school from 8:00 - 8:20 a.m. to raise awareness for the need to fully fund our school. We would like parents to join the effort as well. Please feel free to bring signs! 

Reminders!

December 4th-6th Reminders

There will be a 12:10 dismissal today, tomorrow, and Friday for report card conferences.  The Home and School will be selling raffles for Mel's Italian Restaurant and Split Endz Hair Salon ($1.00 each or 6 tickets for $5.00.) during conference times.  Proceeds from the raffles will go towards the new math curriculum.  We are still accepting donations for the new math curriculum.  We appreciate any support you can give.

• Come to Dobson on December 12th to be entertained by  the Dobson Band, Choir, Recorder Ensembles and Kindergarten through 2nd Grade play FLAKES!!  A musical celebration of Snow, Sleet and SNIRT!
• Tickets are on sale now!!! Each ticket is $3 ($4 at the door on the 12th)!  Email (ltierney@philasd.org) or come to see Ms. Tierney if you have any questions!

• Get your dancing shoes ready for our 1st Annual JDS Boogie for Books dance-a-thon and fundraiser!  More information will be sent home with students in the coming weeks!

Dobson's Night Out!

Come out to St. John the Baptist Hall on November 23rd for a night of fun and frivolity to help us raise money for a great cause...new instructional materials and supplies for Dobson's Students.  "Dobson's Night Out" would love your support! 

School Makeover!

Exciting News!! As many of you may have seen, our school yard has received a beautiful makeover courtesy of the Boy Scout Troop 176.  Troop 176 raised over $800 and donated their time and talents to paint the playground wall blue, repaint and upgrade (with labels) the map of the U.S., repaint the kickball court, repaint and score official lines for the basketball courts, replace the nets, paint a 4 square court and provide a new basketball, a 4 square ball and sidewalk chalk to help our kids enjoy their favorite subject- recess! In the spring, we plan to continue our makeover by painting the Dobson School Emblem: James Dobson School- Home of the Dolphins, with a dolphin in the center along with a new underwater scene! If any parent or Dobson Family is interested in working on making this project happen, please let us know!!  Check out the before and afters!!!!

Give with Target!

Here we go again!! Help us to kick of the school year with much needed supplies through the GIVE WITH TARGET campaign.  As the school year approaches and budget cuts and deficits continue to loom over us, you can help us begin to bridge the gap and by taking a minute to log on and vote. Last year Dobson was able to receive approximately $700 for supplies.  Let's see if we can blow that number out of the water this year!
