Spread the word! There will be an urgent Home and School meeting with Ms. Cruice to
outline the District's severe 2013-2014 budget cuts and how they will
affect Dobson. The meeting will take place in the auditorium. Doors open
at 5 pm and the meeting will begin promptly at 5:30. Please make every
effort to attend. Membership in Home and School is not required.
We have so many wonderful things going on inside the walls of James Dobson School. This blog will be a link between administrators, teachers, and parents to pass along information about programs, make announcements, and showcase the accomplishments of our awesome Dobson students!

PSSA's Continue!
Tuesday, April 16th-18th
- PSSA Testing begins for grades 3 through 8. ROCK THE TEST DOBSON!
- Some Testing tips to get you through to ADVANCED this week!
- Relax and maintain a positive attitude.
- Take your time. There is no time limit for these tests. Take the time to check your answers and show your work.
- Don't worry about what other students are doing. The tests are not all the same.
- Read the questions carefully, underline or highlight parts of the question or story in the booklet if necessary to help you remember, and understand the passages.
- Be sure to answer every question. If you don't know an answer, skip it and come back to it later. Make sure you are marking the correct space and don't forget to go back and try to answer the questions you skipped.
- Show all your work. And answer the question even if you only know part of the answer. You get points for each part you have correct. Be sure you show your work on the answer sheet--the test book is not scored.
- Write legibly. If the person scoring your exam can't read your answer it may be marked wrong!
- On multiple choice questions read every option carefully and be sure you are choosing the best answer. If you aren’t sure, cross off any answers you know are not correct in your test booklet and try to find the correct answer from those remaining.
- For math problems check your work and be sure you copied all numbers correctly.
- Be sure you answer the question. If they want you to show work, show it. If they want you to explain your answer, explain it. A question may ask you to explain why you did what you did, not just what you did.
- When you are done check your answers! Proofread for mistakes and be sure you answered each question completely.

Donor's Choose Matching Code: INSPIRE
This week, Dobson School has been very fortunate to have several projects fulfilled through www.donorschoose.org.
"DonorsChoose.org is an online charity that makes it easy for anyone to help students in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America post classroom project requests on our site, and you can give any amount to the project that most inspires you.
When a project reaches its funding goal, we ship the materials to the school. You'll get photos of the project taking place, a letter from the teacher, and insight into how every dollar was spent. Give over $50 and you'll also receive hand-written thank-yous from the students."
Several of our teachers have pages on this site. Please look through the links below to see if there is a project you would be interested in! You can also share any teacher's projects on Facebook, Twitter with your family and friends. These materials are shipped directly to your child's classroom when the projects are funded.
Now for the best part!! If you enter the code INSPIRE within the first week of the project being created, Donors Choose will match your donation! No Donation is too small!! $10 becomes $20, $15 becomes $30, when you enter INSPIRE.
Visit Ms. Tierney's and Ms. McConnell's Pages
for projects that are within their first week!!
With your help, we can get the word out to get these projects fulfilled. No donation is too small. Every penny counts!
