Dobson Loves Donorschoose.org!!!

This week, Dobson School has been very fortunate to have several projects fulfilled through www.donorschoose.org.

"DonorsChoose.org is an online charity that makes it easy for anyone to help students in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America post classroom project requests on our site, and you can give any amount to the project that most inspires you.

When a project reaches its funding goal, we ship the materials to the school. You'll get photos of the project taking place, a letter from the teacher, and insight into how every dollar was spent. Give over $50 and you'll also receive hand-written thank-yous from the students."

Several of our teachers have pages on this site.  Please look through the links below to see if there is a project you would be interested in!  You can also share any teacher's projects on Facebook, Twitter with your family and friends.  These materials are shipped directly to your child's classroom when the projects are funded, so

Now for the best part!!   If you enter the code INSPIRE within the first week of the project being created, Donors Choose will match your donation!

From now until Friday, March 25th, ANY PROJECT CAN RECEIVE A MATCHED DONATION, DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR, IF YOU ENTER THE CODE INSPIRE!!!

With your help, we can get the word out to get these projects fulfilled.  No donation is too small.  Every penny counts!

Music Trivia for March 4th

Music In Our Schools Month:

Each morning during March, we will celebrate Music In Our Schools Month with a trivia question.  The question will be read each morning over the announcements and students can give their answer to Ms. Tierney before lunch.  The answers will be posted here each afternoon, and announced the following morning.

The Question for March 4th:
Where did The Beatles record 191 songs?

The Answer: Abbey Road Studios

The Fab Four
Signed to EMI's Parlophone label by producer George Martin in 1962, the Beatles (with Pete Best instead of Ringo on drums) made their first recording at Abbey Road in June of that year, beginning an artistic collaboration that would last until the group's demise in 1970. Ninety percent of the group's recordings were made at Abbey Road, where in 1964, they reviewed the script for A Hard Day's Night, above.

March is Music in Our School's Month

We will be celebrating with daily Music Trivia, a school wide poster contest and bulletin board! Check with your students for more information this week.

Even if you don't always notice it, music is all around us-- from the stereo in the car to the music piped in at the supermarket.  Studies show that music has a wide array of benefits to your health.  Whether you're listening or, better yet, playing, music can have a great impact on your mind!

Why is this important?  Did you know that studying while listening to Baroque compositions at 60 beats per minute helps most students to study longer and to retain more information?  Listening to Mozart can increase your IQ 9 points for 15 minutes!!  Click Here to watch a short video to further explain why music is so important to your child's education!

Don't forget to log on to KidBiz3000 and First In Math everyday!!

PSSA's are only a few weeks away!!!
